Shane McGee
General Counsel & Chief Privacy Officer
Shane spent more than a decade in large law firms in the D.C. area where he represented companies across a variety of industries on issues of technology, privacy and cybersecurity. In 2011, Shane was leading SNR Denton’s Internet and Data Protection practice when Mandiant, a client at the time, reached out about an opportunity. Shortly thereafter, Shane left private practice to join Mandiant as its General Counsel and VP of Government Affairs.
When Mandiant was acquired by FireEye, Shane moved to California to become FireEye’s General Counsel of Global Services and Cloud Solutions, and later its Chief Privacy Officer and VP of Policy. There Shane built and governed FireEye’s global privacy program to ensure appropriate use of customer data worldwide. He also spent many hours on Capitol Hill and elsewhere in the government working with officials to manage FireEye’s role as a trusted advisor on cybersecurity issues that impacted national security.
In 2016, Shane joined Cofense, a cybersecurity company focused on phishing, as its General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer. Like Mandiant, Shane had represented Cofense (then PhishMe) while he was in private practice. Shane was at Cofense until joining Deepwatch.
